Christmas 2008

This year we had 4 gatherings for Christmas. The first was with Justin's family (sister and husband, his brother and his foster brother). We had it here at our house and it was great. His sister and I played Singstar on the PS3 and she bought us some new songs to sing, that was a blast (especially with her, when she was drunk lol). They ended up leaving at about 1am. The next day, which was a Sunday, was our church's Sunday School Concert, it was during normal church hours instead of in the evening like every other year (I think they just wanted to try something new). Wednesday, December 17th (I think), was Trinity's Christmas Concert at school, so Charity and I went with her for that (Justin had to stay home with Isaac unfortunately. Trinity did really well.

Our next gathering was at my brother Dominic's house. We left here right when Justin got home from work and took the hour long drive to their house. We visited while we waited for my dad to arrive, and when he did we ate dinner (which was delicious) and the kids opened their gifts. We visited until about 9:30 when we started getting ready to go home.

The next day (December 20th), we had a gathering with my dad's side of the family. It was at the hall in a little town not far from here. That was a good time, we hadn't seen that side of the family since June I believe. We just visited, and I got my baby fix with my neice and nephew :)

Christmas morning, the kids opened their gifts as soon as we woke up, then played with their gifts while I made Chocolate Chip Pancakes for breakfast. We ate, cleaned up a little bit and got ready to go to my grandparents' house. We got there and had dinner, then visited while the table was being cleared and then we opened gifts. Each of the kids got an outfit from my grandparents and some money from my uncle. We visited some more until about 4pm and then we headed home.

Justin and I went and did some Boxing Day shopping, and I got myself a laptop (which I am on right now) and he bought himself some PSP games.

Anyways, that was our Christmas. I will post a slideshow of pics when I get the chance (will have to go on the desktop to do that though).

Won't be around much for a while.

The scripture for today comes from Ephesians 3:14-19...

NIV - For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom his whole family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.

Wow, all I can say about that scripture is wow. How great is our God!

Well, today was just like any other day. Wake up, get the kids breakfast and then get them ready for the day. Trinity was off to school at the usual time - 8:35am. Her friend Cara's mom has been picking her up and dropping her off for a few weeks now, she will continue to do so until the bus starts coming (whenever that may be). We are VERY grateful to her for doing this for us and we really appreciate it. It saves me SOO much trouble having to get all 3 kids ready in the morning.

I cleaned the bathroom in the afternoon: Wiped down the sink and the toilet, as well as cleaned the bathtub (it was in DESPERATE need of a washing). I also did my usual cleaning of the main floor and even started on the entrance (not completely done yet, still need to vacuum). We had an earlier than usual dinner because I had to go to "work" in the early evening (cleaning the daycare when the lady that does it has a day off or is on vacation). I think it went very well and I left with the whole daycare smelling fresh and clean :) I started at about 6:10pm and finished at 7:50pm, so it took me almost 2 hours.

I went to bed feeling very accomplished!

Dear Lord, Thank you again for such a wonderful day. Thank you for the opportunity for me to help somebody and to get out of the house. I pray that like me, everyone else had a great day as well. I also pray that those who read today's scripture, that it will speak to their hearts. I pray this in your holy name, Amen.

The Scripture for today comes from John 7:37-39...

NIV - On the last and greatest day of the Feast, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, "If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him." By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.

I believe in Him and I know I am filled with the Spirit, even though I can't always feel it. I still know it is there within me and I am grateful for that.

We actually got to sleep in this morning, we slept until about 9am. We got up and fed the kids then got them ready for Sunday School. I dropped the girls off at the church and then came home to give Isaac a bath and get him ready for church. We met the girls there and sat down. I had to take Isaac into the baby room not too long into the service because he kept wanting to run around but we couldn't let that happen during church. I spent most of the service in there, towards the end I asked a friend of mine if she could watch Isaac because I was having trouble hearing in there (with the kids making noise and all). After the service, we went out for lunch at the Chinese restaurant here in town, came home and watched a video, then played some LittleBigPlanet together, then ate dinner, then spent more time together, then put the girls to bed and played some more LittleBigPlanet and then went to bed. That was pretty much our day :)

Dear Lord, Thank you again for such a wonderful day. Thank you that we can go to church and fellowship with other believers. Thank you for the message that was preached as well, thank you as well for the pastor that preached it. Thank you also that we could go out for lunch and enjoy our time together and also the time we spent as a family at home as well. I pray that as we go on with our week, we have great times and are blessed by/with so many things. I pray this in your holy name, Amen.

3 Long Months

I wanted to share a poem that Justin wrote for his dad (he thought he'd be able to read it at the Memorial Service but he couldn't). It is called "3 Long Months"....

Today's daily devotional reading comes from Psalm 25:4-5....

NIV - Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths; guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my Savior, and my hope is in you all day long.

There was no need to use "The Message" version of this scripture, as it is pretty straight forward in the NIV version. I have to learn to do this, let God show me his ways, teach me his paths and guide me in his truth. I need to pay attention and listen to God's teaching. I need to put "my hope in him all day long". That is something that I will strive to do.

Today was a good day. We went to bed at a decent time last night (around 10pm) and woke up at around 7:30 with the kids. Gave them breakfast then Justin played a video game (like on a typical Saturday morning) and I spent some time online while the kids played. Then I had a shower and got ready to go spend the day with my friend. I met her at the mall at around 11am and we spend the day there window shopping and just hanging out. Then, I had to drop her off at her brother's house (where she was spending the night), but it didn't work out how we expected it too. We got to his house (he lives there with his wife and her 2 children) and nobody was home (we knocked on the door, rang the doorbell and nobody answered). So, we went to the neighbours house to use their phone, ended up staying there for a bit (they were VERY nice people). She tried calling her dad to get her brother's phone number. Finally, she called her boyfriend (who lives in the city) to come and pick her up. So, I waited with her until he arrived and then we went our separate ways. I went to Superstore and did some shopping, picked something up to eat there (I hadn't eaten in a while and was hungry) and came home. I put all my stuff away and here I am.

It was a wonderful day! I missed my family, but I had lots of fun with Violet, I don't see her very often so it was nice that we could get together like this. Probably won't happen again in a while though.

Dear Lord, Thank you for such a wonderful day. Thank you for Violet, that she could be a friend to me and I to her. Thank you that we both got to the city safely and could spend some time together. Thank you for keeping us safe as we were travelling to her brother's house and needed to use the neighbour's phone. I pray that Justin and the kids had a fun day here at home together and that the kids are having sweet dreams tonight. I pray that we have a great day tomorrow as well, and that the kids learn lots in Sunday School. I pray this all in your holy name, Amen.

I will be starting off with the verse of the day from now on. Today's is Matthew 18:11-14 (looks like there is no verse 11, hmmm).

NIV - "What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost."

The Message - "Look at it this way. If someone has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders off, doesn't he leave the ninety-nine and go after the one? And if he finds it, doesn't he make far more over it than over the ninety-nine who stay put? Your Father in heaven feels the same way. He doesn't want to lose even one of these simple believers."

This morning I woke up earlier than I have been. Of course, it was Charity that had to come in my room and wake me up lol. I got up, got the kids breakfast and got them ready for their day. Trinity left for school at the usual time, then I put a video on for the kids and took my time online (which ended up being WAY too much, as usual...I REALLY need to start using that timer again). We ate lunch and then spent time with daddy before he had to go to work. Him and I played some "LittleBigPlanet" together during his lunch hour (well, it was only 40 minutes). He went back to work and I played a bit more "LittleBigPlanet" and then did some cleaning so the house was nice and tidy for when Justin got home from work.

In the evening, we ate dinner and spent time with the kids until it was time for them to go to bed. Then, Justin and I spent time together playing some more "LittleBigPlanet" and then at 10pm, we went to bed.

Dear Lord, Thank you for such a wonderful day. Thank you for the time we could spend together as a family. I pray that we all have a great weekend, full of fun and happiness. I pray for safe travels tomorrow as I go to spend some time with my friend Violet, and for safe travels for her and her father as they travel as well. I pray this in your holy name, Amen.

Today, I want to start with our Daily Scripture reading (we will call it that), which comes from Matthew 11:28-30. I will post both the NIV version and "The Message" version.

NIV - "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."

The Message - "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

I really need to learn how to "keep company with him" because the truth is, I don't really do that. I need to learn how to give it all over to Him and let him lead me through my life and help me overcome my fears, troubles, etc. ____________________________________________________

Charity came in my room this morning at about 6:45am crying and asking me if it was morning. I feel bad, I was still tired and didn't want to get up so I yelled at her and told her to get out of my room. I stayed in bed until about 7:30am and then got up and got their breakfast and everything ready. Trinity was out the door by about 8:35 and then it was time to get Charity ready for Preschool. Just as we were leaving, Justin (hubby's foster brother) walked in the door (he works nights this week and next week) so I asked if he'd mind watching Isaac (it was about -14 but felt like -21C out there this morning) while I brought Charity to Preschool. He didn't mind at all, so off we went. I came home then spent some time with Isaac, he had a bath and then watched cartoons, I took some time online and then got off to do some cleaning. DH came home for lunch, we ate and then hung out until he went back to work. I read a few books to the kids, then Isaac started acting out so I put him down for his nap, read to Charity some more and then came online.

After I'm done here, I will be getting off and getting more cleaning and laundry done. I think Justin's sister and her husband are coming over about 5ish. There's a candle lighting service at the church today (where you light a candle in memory of a deceased loved one), and they are just coming to visit before that. I am hoping somebody can babysit so I can go as well (we're thinking of asking his foster brother, but he might want to go himself). Also, at 6pm, I have to go to the daycare so the lady that cleans there (I will be cleaning for her when she's got a day off or is on vacation), so she can show me around. I will be cleaning there Nov. 24th and Dec. 16th and maybe a few days between there (she wasn't sure yet).

I have NO clue what we're doing for dinner, especially since his sister and her husband are coming over. I'm hoping Justin calls from work and lets me know what's going on, if he doesn't in 15 minutes then I'll call him. I dont want to make something and then find out we'll be ordering pizza or something.

Tomorrow is Friday and I want to do a deep clean of the house. Saturday, I am going out with my friend Violet (I hope) and we're going to have fun together (haven't seen each other since July). I can't wait, it's been so long since we've gone out together. Sunday, we are going to church and then probably hanging around at home (which is the usual for us on Sundays). So, that is our weekend (so far anyways).

Dear Lord, Thank you for such a wonderful day, even though it's cold and wintry outside. Thank you for our family and the love that we share for one another. I pray that Justin and Trinity are having a good time at work and at school and that Isaac is having sweet dreams during his nap. I pray that this evening, as we are at the Shining Light service, that we can feel your presence as we are around others who have suffered a loss like ours. I also pray that we all have a good sleep tonight full of sweet dreams. In your holy name, Amen.

Well, it's that time already, time to say farewell until tomorrow. You might not hear from me during the weekends since I'm not usually online. Have a great night and I hope your day has been Blessed beyond measure.

9:37am - Charity had to wake me up again this morning, at 7:40a.m. We got up and the girls had a shower (Isaac was still asleep). While they were in there, I decided to go online to check my email and stuff, but to my surprise, it’s not working right now. It’s for my own good though, I have been on WAY too much lately. I had cut WAY back and started using a shutdown timer (something that automatically shuts down your computer after a certain amount of time that YOU put into it, ex. 30 minutes). Well, the past week or so I haven’t been using it and find myself online most of the day, which makes me neglect my duties as a stay-at-home mother. This affects everything: my relationship with my kids, my relationship with my husband and especially my relationship with God (which is VERY important to me, my relationship with them that is).

Anyway, the girls finished their shower and we made some waffles for breakfast. While they ate, I went and got them some clothes and then sat down and ate some waffles too. Trinity got off to school and Charity wanted to watch cartoons, at the time Isaac was still eating so he finished and then I brought him downstairs to watch too. Well, that didn’t last very long, they came upstairs maybe 10 minutes later, while I was playing a bit of “LittleBigPlanet” on the PS3.

Today’s scripture (coming from a daily devotional reading paper I got at my recent Bible Study) reading for today is…….

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God – Matthew 5:8

What do they mean by see God? You can’t see God! Are they talking about when you are in Heaven? I do not understand this really, I think when our internet is up and running again I will look it up and then post it here.

Anyway, I have some things planned for today. They are:

- Clean the house
- Do some laundry
- Spend time with the kids
- Make meals and eat them as a family (except for lunch since Trin’s at school)
- Do some dishes
- Spend some time with my husband
- Read a Chapter of my Bible, do my “Power of a Praying Wife” for today and read some “Having a Mary Heart in a Martha World” and also write in my prayer journal (which I am going to make, haven’t yet).

I will try to come back either this afternoon or evening and tell you about the rest of my wonderful day.

Dear Lord,
Thank you for this wonderful day you have made. Help us to rejoice and be glad in it, no matter what comes our way. I pray for safety for Justin and Trinity as they are at work and school and that they have a blessed day. I pray for myself, Charity and Isaac who are at home today, that we also have a blessed day and enjoy every moment we have together. I pray this in your holy name, Amen.

2:00pm - As you can see, since I am posting this, our internet is now up and running. It was out all morning, kept getting some DNS error message (on the PS3 at least). I decided to check one more time to see if it worked and to my surprise, here I am. Since it was out, I got some cleaning and some dishes done this morning. I went through a Preschool activity book we have here and found some things to do with Charity when we get the chance.

After I am done here, I am going to throw a load of laundry in the washing machine and finish up my cleaning, so it's nice and tidy when Justin gets home from work. Trinity should be home from school in 70 minutes or so, then we'll do her homework and spend some time together until Justin gets home.

I'm not even sure what's for dinner tonight yet, I'm thinking maybe hotdogs or something simple like that. I'm sure whatever I make it will be good, always is :)

Dear Lord, Thank you for such a wonderful morning and start to the afternoon. I pray that Justin and Trinity are enjoying themselves at work and school, and that Isaac is having sweet dreams during his nap. Thank you for our family and everything that you do for us. I pray that as we spend time together this evening, that we will feel your presence among us. I pray this in your holy name, Amen.

I found the scripture I posed earlier and checked out the same one from "The Message" version of the Bible and it seems a bit clearer,but I still dont think I completely understand it....

You're blessed when you get your inside world—your mind and heart—put right. Then you can see God in the outside world - Matthew 5:8
